Convergent Design’s Odyssey7Q+ [B&H | Amazon] is one of the big hitters in combo 4K recorder/monitors. Through the end of May, they’re throwing in a pair of 256G solid state drives (retail value $790) to sweeten the deal.
What else is there to write? Get ‘em while they’re hot?
We’ve written about Convergent Design’s Odyssey7Q series many times before, including the 4K Odyssey7Q+ launch this past December. It shares the top of the combo 4K recorder/monitor pyramid with the Atomos Shogun.
Then again, if you’ve read this far, you probably know this already.
The promo has been going since January, but Convergent Design sent out an email earlier this month reminding folks that the promotion is ending soon.
How’s that credit card line doing?
Odyssey7Q+ Free SSD Promotion to End May 31st
Via Convergent Design Press:
Since January 15th, 2015, Convergent Design has run a worldwide promotion, delivering two Odyssey 256GB SSDs with every Odyssey7Q+ monitor/recorder. This promotion will end on May 31st, 2015. All orders received after May 31st, 2015 will not include the two 256GB Odyssey SSDs.
“Our goal was to remove the price barrier from clients deciding what product was best suited to their needs,” explained Mike Schell, President of Convergent Design. “Now that we have announced that the Odyssey monitor/recorders will soon support the use of some inexpensive Samsung SSDs, people can buy an Odyssey7Q+ with the comfort of knowing that they won’t have to worry about being able to afford the media they need to use it.”
In an upcoming free firmware update, the Odyssey7, Odyssey7Q and flagship Odyssey7Q+ monitor/recorders will be able to record to the 500GB and 1000GB models of the Samsung 850 EVO 2.5” SSDs. Convergent Design will continue to manufacture and sell the Odyssey SSDs in 256GB, 512GB and 1TB sizes.
Rather than end the current promotion without notice, Convergent Design has elected to inform our dealers, distributors and international client base of the end date four weeks in advance. After May 31st, 2015, the two free 256GB Odyssey SSD promotion will cease and will no longer be available to order from Convergent Design. Two 256GB SSDs represent a US$790 value, included at no additional charge with the Odyssey7Q+. Recording in Apple ProRes 422 (HQ) at 24fps, these SSDs can hold 78 minutes of 4K video, or 335 minutes of 1080p video.
