The good folks over at stillmotion have done quite a few tutorials for Canon and for their own site… here’s a good number of them for you! If you’re not familiar with their work, you should be – they’re doing some of the most incredible stuff on the planet. Just have a look!

stillmotion’s guide to lenses for weddings and events // a cinema caravan tutorial from stillmotion on Vimeo.

thanks to all of our amazing sponsors that have made this trip possible and that have brought this tutorial to you. we have plenty more to come.

first and foremost, thanks to canon live learning for making all of this possible (the bus and all). thanks to manfrotto for being so kind in providing 16 monopods plus tons more gear. thanks to cinevate for the shoulder rigs and atlas camera sliders. thanks to zacuto for the z-finders and DSLR rig. thanks to tiffen/lowel/steadicam for all of their lighting and stabilization support.

we setup for our first workshop tonight and it almost resembled the show floor of BH at times.

let us know what you think. we are happy to answer any questions and we look forward to hitting the road and shooting our next tutorial in chicago.

an intro to EOS stabilizers // canon cinema caravan from stillmotion on Vimeo.

here it is, a long journey that began with a crazy proposal to Canon well over 8 months ago, culminating in a almost a month living on a bus, touring the country, and meeting some amazing people along the way. our last tutorial is an introduction to stabilizers for EOS cameras. it covers our hands down favorite too, the monopod (answering the most commonly asked question and some tips and tricks), our take on sliders (the atlas LTS 30 by cinevate featured here), as well as a breakdown on stabilizers (featuring the steadicam merlin).

the tilt/shift lenses demystified. brought to you by canon live learning from stillmotion on Vimeo.

from chicago, to the grand canyon and hoover damn, we really traveled far and wide to put this one together. the tilt/shift lenses can be a rather technical set to wrap your head around so please be sure to leave any questions on the cinema caravan blog and we will be sure to get back to you.

canon caravan + steadicam training from stillmotion on Vimeo.

behind the Scenes of the workshop in portland. this is from day one of steadicam training. shot entirely with the steadicam merlin. now often we use the bigger rigs because of the added benefits they prodive, but when we get a chance to play with these smaller ones, such as here, it always surprises me just how clean the footage can look.
