Panasonic GH5 “Has Me Thinking” says Hugh Brownstone

by planetMitch1 Comment

I know the GH5 is gradually working its way out to people around the world (tho strangely the USA seems to be last) and our friend Hugh Brownstone from 3 Blind Men and an Elephant has published some very interesting thoughts.

I also know he's had his hands on a GH5 for the last week and is working on a series of posts about his experiences with the new darling of the independent filmmaking world (tho I'm also seeing lots of reports of problems with Metabones – more on that soon).

Did you get a GH5? If so, let me know what you think!

Here's a different way of thinking about high ISO noise: start by listening. And then look at a big budget Hollywood blockbuster really closely.

The GH5 Has Me Thinking, Episode 3: Autofocus, Loose Ends – and What Happens Next

Well, it certainly took long enough. Big realization: I don't need “the best” autofocus – I just need “good enough for me,” and sometimes that includes fully manual. Thanks for your patience – looking forward to chatting with and learning from you in the comments section below. [MORE}

  1. Wow… I kept trying to get through the first one. Trying to have you get to your salient points.

    Then I tried the second — and saw the run time at 30 minutes. And the example seemed just as obscure as the ‘noisy’ film sample in the first… a painting of an old man.

    I would LOVE it if you could make your points, possibly give us time codes where you make them, and then we could consider them. I had to give up here.
