It is Almost Here! Canon EOS 5D Mark IV Specifications Rumors

by planetMitch5 Comments

With only about 10 days until the announcement according to canonrumors, specs and info about the Canon EOS 5D Mark IV are coming.

While the specs are below, canonrumors also mentions these updates:

While [CR3] level specifications for the EOS 5D Mark IV have been hard to come by, something we’ll be able to fix some time this week. We do have some information on pricing and kits that’ll be available.

We’re told that the body only will likely come in less than what the EOS 5D Mark III launched at, which was $3499. We’re told the EOS 5D Mark IV would come in at $3299 USD. As always with pricing, it could be old information and things may have moved a bit due to currency fluctuations. While we’d love to see a $2999 price point, we don’t think that’s likely with the information we have.

The EOS 5D Mark IV will come in two kits, one with the EF 24-70mm f/4L IS and the other with the brand new EF 24-105mm f/4L IS II. The EF 24-70mm f/4L IS kit will be the lower priced option between the two lens options.

So it is getting pretty exciting… or is it?

Initially, the rumors were that there would be CFast card slot and an SD… which would imply to me that they were beefing up the speeds on video. But the latest post suggests that we're only getting CF and that is depressing isn't it? No 4k 60fps is what that says to me.

USB 3 and ‘more touchscreen functionality' is good news (but of course I would prefer “FULL touchscreen!”).

What do you think? With estimated street price of $3299, will you be a buyer based on these specs or moving to Sony?

  1. I have too much $$ invested in Canon glass, so won’t be moving to Sony. The Mark III and II were good enough for the pro’s who do this for a living, so I think the specs for the Mark IV would be suitable for me as a non professional. I don’t really shoot video anyway and I currently have the 1DX Mark II with 4K capabilities. I think this would suit me just fine. If anything, I would just move to the 5DSR.

  2. Excited if low light performance is stellar and the camera has the dual pixel AF tracking functionality. The former will be hard to know until real production devices are in the field. There will be the usual audio challenges I’m sure, so still hard to tell at this stage..

I want to be excited, but equally I won’t be surprised if there are a couple of gotchas… Fingers crossed…

  3. It will be a great time to move to sony because there’s going to be a glut of used A7sII’s and A7rII’s on the market.

  4. Still shooting with my original 5D MK2 for about 7 years now and happy with the results…I’m not a ‘I’ve got to have the latest upgrade’ sort of person, hence no MK3 or 4 for me thankyou.

  5. Canon is not interested in making their DSLR’s for their video market. They will continue to cater to photographers and attempt to force you into their C line if you do video work.
