Wow, how gimbals have changed the filmmaking world in the last few years.
They haven't disappeared either, new technologies are being worked on and released.
The newness may have worn off, but that's what happens when tools become engrained in the process of making video.
One thing I love about the new Came-tv Argo is that you do not need any tools to do the adjusting. I know I sound like a broken record, but I really really dislike having to carry tools around to make something attach or detach or adjust. I wish more device makers would realize how convenient it is and how it makes their tools so much easier to use when you don't have to scramble to find that one tool you need on the job.
NEW CAME-TV ARGO – Features Overview – 3 axis gimbal for cameras up to 3Kg review
The CAME-ARGO features a 32 bit Alexmos Board and is completely tool-less adjustable. All of the motors are equipped with encoders which makes their performance much more smooth and accurate along with increasing the lifespan of the battery.
Included are a wireless remote control which allows you to control the gimbal from a distance and a foldable carbon fiber stand. Everything fits into the includes compact hard case.
On the top section there are two handles that are easily hand screwed for installation or removal. On the handle there is a monitor mount and a wireless remote which allows you to remotely control the gimbal and switch between modes. The entire top handle bar can be easily separated from the gimbal which than can be mounted to other devices like a crane, slider or drone with the included adapter plate.
On the middle section there is a quick release battery that has a lifespan of about 15 hrs. (Less if you have electrical accessories attached) There are two ports with a hinged rubber seal on them. The top port is a USB connection that allows you to connect your computer to the Alexmos Board. The other is a RC connector.
On the bottom there is a video transmitter along with a D-Tap out which you can power an accessory like a wireless follow focus. There is a 15mm rod mount on which you can mount an accessory such as a wireless follow focus.
- Pre-calibrated 32-bit Alexmos control board
- Wireless Joystick
- Max load: 3kg (6.6 lbs)
- Net weight: 2.9kg (6 lbs) Gimbal+Battery
- Total weight: 6.8kg (15 lbs) The Entire Argo Gimbal Including The Hardcase
CAME-Mini 3 3-Axis Gimbal Camera
The CAME-MINI3 is our latest edition of the CAME-MINI Gimbals. The new MINI3 uses Basecam 32 bit controllers with encoders. Encoders are often used in Robotics for highly accurate monitoring of motor position. Some of the benefits of using Encoders are to: prevent motors from losing synchronization and skipping steps, provides important information about frame and camera angles, decreases power consumption (longer battery life), increases Torque, increases precision of stabilization, and more. The gimbal had a a quick release system for the camera along with being completely tool-less which allows the operator to change camera setups and re-balance the entire system very quickly.
All of the wiring and electronics are completely enclosed into the frame offering a clean professional appearance and protecting the wiring. The Smart Battery is quick to install and provides up to 10 hours of run time depending on your rig setup. The top handle can be removed, each side handle can also be removed, and the entire top cross bar can be separated from the lower frame allowing for compact transport.
A remote joystick can be installed next to the right handle that allows Pan and Tilt control of the camera or to switch through the different profiles with an approximate working distance of 50 meters depending on your working environment.
Profile 1: Follow Operator Pan and Tilt movement, Profile 2: Follow Operator Pan Movement (does not follow Tilt), Profile 3: Disable Follow for both Pan and Tilt.
- Motor encoders which increases battery life and prevents the motors from skipping steps.
- Smart Battery for longer run time and quick installation.
- Remote joystick to control pan and tilt of the camera and also switch through different profiles.
- Removable side handles for easy storage and transportation.
- 5.8G video transmitter below the camera baseplate.
