Audio Clean-Up & Enhancement Software SoundSoap Gets Major Update with Two Full New Versions, SoundSoap 5 & SoundSoap 5+.

“Automagically”, a neologism that is becoming more popular in digital circles lately for when automation works so fast and so well that it really feels like magic. As digital production software and hardware becomes ever more sophisticated, I suspect we will experience more “automagic” over time.

Audio clean-up and restoration software maker Soundness Corporation  tells us that flagship product SoundSoap 5 will “automagically find and remove background noise”. I am inclined to believe them. SoundSoap 4 is pretty damned good at what it does and I am really looking forward to seeing magic at work in the recently-released, paid-for, version 5 update.

SoundSoap is available in two versions, SoundSoap 5 and SoundSoap+ 5. SoundSoap+ 5 – “More Power. More Control” – is the premium, professional version and it is priced to match. Its latest plus-version features not found in SoundSoap 5 include broadband range noise reduction, downward expander for reducing low-life noise, multi-band processor enhancements, multiple hum harmonics clean-up, hi-cut and low-cut noise removal and threshold settings control in the very handy Track control.

Soundness describes the lower-priced SoundSoap 5 – no plus in its name – as also working “automagically” and the update includes a number of improvements including audio metering, and the addition of support for the popular MP3 and FLAC audio file formats.

Like SoundSoap+ 5, SoundSoap 5 is made for Mac and Windows, and works as a standalone application as well as a plug-in for compatible Audio Unit (AU), VST, AAX or AudioSuite hosts.

Given its additional controls and features, SoundSoap+ 5 is the version of most appeal to professional video editors, audio recordists, producers and sound designers.
