I’m going to say something that will make lots of videographers, photographers and editors uncomfortable. You can learn a lot by working in the wedding industry.
Why? You’re forced to work with clients every week, make snap decisions and there’s no chance of recreating the event. After a while, this will make you a different, and in many ways, better shooter and editor. In addition to this, if you’re responsible and can retain a good reputation, shooting and editing weddings can be very profitable.
I have an issue though.
I’m a wedding videographer, and I am most certainly not a wedding editor.
There’s a special skillset that allows a person to be a consistent, yet original storyteller.
EpicMotion is looking for the person with that skillset. They’re offering $500, a $200 gift card to PROCAM, a free wedding license at Marmoset and a free plug-in from DigiEffects to the person with the best wedding editing chops.
Here’s the deal, it’s free to enter and all you have to do is complete a 4-6 minute edit of the assets that EpicMotion provides. If you are interested and have the experience and know-how under your belt, check it out.
EpicMotion's 2015 Editors Contest
Via Epic Motion:
Epic Motion is on the hunt for an AMAZING freelance editor. Someone who can take our wedding footage and create a film that stands out, moves us, and inspires us. We are VERY picky about editors, and only let a select few people edit our work. If you would like to be considered as one of those people, this is your chance.
Epic is offering $500 to the editor who delivers what we deem to be the best 4-6 minute edit. Beyond the contest, we would keep the winner in mind for future projects, to be paid on a contractual basis.
How to enter:
-Fill out the form.
-If we deem that you are a legit editor, we will send you the assets along with further instructions.
-Deadline for finished entries is Sept. 15, 2015. That means we have your fully edited video in hand by that date. Entries received on or after Sept. 16, 2015 will be disqualified and scoffed at.
-Only one editor will get the grand prize package. One runner up will receive $50 to Procam, and a free Damage plugin from Digieffects. Runners up may very likely be considered as an editor for future projects, so don’t be shy!
-Winner will be chosen by Epic Motion staff.
