The New Sitara Wireless Remote Follow Focus is Here!

Kickstarter, IndieGoGo and GoFundMe have bred a new form of hardware creators focused on building quality gear for filmmakers. Just within the past couple weeks here at planet5D we’ve posted about multiple products that are being created thanks to these crowdfunding websites.

The Sitara Wireless Remote Follow Focus is another one of these products that’s been created with the filmmaker in mind. This follow focus includes professional, unique features at a price point that’s accessible for DSLR shooters everywhere.

Here are some of the features:

• A highly sensitive dial that divides each full revolution into 3,200 steps or 0.1125 of a degree

• Multiple, full 360-degree turns

• A calibrated reading of distance when you pull focus based on 50+ measurement points uploaded to its transmitter

• Community data sharing of the 50+ measurement points across various lenses to save time and effort

• Data storage of 30+ camera lenses at any one time

• Manual settings of end limits for higher accuracy as compared to automatic calibration systems, thus preventing lens damage and deterioration

• Programmable end limits that overcome the lack of hard stops, thus avoiding overshooting focus range

• Multiple speed control settings for high accuracy of lenses with small throws and fast response for lenses with large throws

• Direction correction control to control direction of minimum focus to infinity throw, both clockwise and counter-clockwise

• Real-time battery life and voltage levels display, and automatic alerts, to indicate when to change batteries on either the Transmitter or Receiver

• A focus dial that can be turned and locked at any point on a 180-degree axis for versatile handling

The Sitara Wireless Remote Follow Focus will be shipped by September 2015, after their Kickstarter campaign has ended.

Tested under grueling real life conditions, the Sitara WRFF enjoys various advantages over competitors. Most of its features are not available in other commercial versions of WRFF systems, even the most expensive ones, and certainly not at the Sitara's price. With a 200+ metre range and rapid response time, the Sitara includes:

In addition to the Sitara, suitable for all DSLR lenses, the Sitara Plus is the professional version which caters to cinema professionals and rental houses. It has all the features of the Sitara but can be used on both cinema lenses and DSLR lenses. The Sitara Plus offers various high-speed options that allow users to achieve the entire travel between the point of minimum focus and infinity with just a single turn of the dial.

Via Kickstarter:

Embrace Cinema Gear has developed the Sitara, a revolutionary Wireless Remote Follow Focus (WRFF) system poised to become the new standard for remote follow focuses worldwide. It’s fast, intuitive and bursting with features that make older follow focus systems look old school and obsolete. No other WRFF comes close to offering the extensive features and affordability of the Sitara, and we need your support to bring it to market.

The Sitara WRFF is Ideal for Filming Needs

A WRFF is critical whenever a camera is in motion and a change in the field of view takes place, necessitating a shift in focus. You’ll find the Sitara WRFF ideal on:

• Drones, RC Copters or Helicams
• Steadicams, Gimbals and other Stabilizers
• Jibs and Cranes
• Track and Dolly Shots
• Sliders
• Car Rigs

It’s also perfect for any shoulder-based or hand-held work.
