Switronix TorchLED Bolt 220R Offers a New Twist on “Lite Brite”

Onboard camera light TorchLED Bolt 220R now with wireless remote control for distances up to 250 away.

Seems like I have LEDs on the brain these days, but I know why: they’re lightweight, adjustable, easily battery-powered – and now increasingly color accurate and price-competitive.

Switronix has just updated their already-nifty Bolt 220 with a wireless remote (Buy at Adorama). This doesn’t read like just any remote: it’s spec’d to sync up to 9 channels, allowing you to adjust intensity and color temperature (and of course on/off) for multiple units.

The photometrics look impressive, too, with a maximum lux reading at 1 meter of 4180 (4100K).

We haven’t seen or tested the Bolt in the metal, but at a street price for the regular Bolt ranging from just under $300 to $400 depending on accessories ($40 more for the R), it definitely piques our interest. The regular 220 is available at B&H Photo, Adorama and others.

Switronix Adds Remote Capability to TorchLED Bolt with 220R Model

From Switronix Press:

Westbury, NY- Switronix is excited to addition of wireless remote capability to the Bolt line with the 220R model(#TL-BT220R).

The new Bolt 220R features a wireless remote which can control the light from up to 250ft away(non LOS). The remote feature will allow the user to control on/off, select color temperature, adjust light intensity, and allows you to sync up to 9 channels. Additionally, you can bank up to 10 lights per channel, allowing you to control the lights in unison. The Bolt 220R is now more versatile than ever.

The addition of this model builds upon a highly successful TORCHLED BOLT line by Switronix. The BOLT line features a 220-watt equivalent light output and variable color temperature. While the light is sized for on-camera applications, the lights’ brightness can easily compete against other stand-mounted panel light. Adding wireless remote capability makes the light even more useful for stand-mounted applications.

The #TL-BT220R model with remote will retail for $40 more than the current #TL-BT220.

*Remote #TL-BTR sold separately.
