Yes, it is true! The cinema@planet5D is back!

Our cinema section was very popular or year or two ago, and with the failed switch to the “videolog” and the forums, the cinema site was shut down for a while.

I continue to see awesome movies and many of our fantastic readers send them to me for review and possible placement, and have no place to post them, so I decided it was time to bring back the cinema@planet5D!

Our cinema was always an awesome place to find the best and the brightest upcoming DSLR video and special feature videos shot with other cameras. It was a popular place and I expect to see the popularity rise to the top again.

When we had the “Videolog” I found that too many videos being submitted were of low quality and people didn't want to see them… so I'm going back to “hand picked” videos to blow you away.

And in bringing it back, I wanted a brand-new sexy layout that would get us into the future and I think I found it (tho I'm still making tweaks to the layout):

Features

At the top, you will see the featured video section which is a scrolling slider that will show you the most popular videos as of right now.

Below that is the recently uploaded section where of course everything that is new Will appear and rotate out as new stuff comes in. Of course, We will be tweeting new entries as well as posting them on our Facebook page as well as our interest payment in case you happen to be over there

Categories and more

Up in the menus, if you roll over the cinema title you will see there is a drop-down menu that will let you select different categories of videos.

Use the menus to select videos targeted by camera or genre

You'll also find a 4k section under the resolution setting – we'll be adding more there soon.

Individual videos

The single page for displaying a video has a great feature where you can make the screen go black while the movie is playing. Of course, with YouTube and video videos you can go full screen and hide everything.

I decided to get rid of the 10 point rating scale and now there is just a thumbs-up (which is the way most video sites are as well). But we do encourage you to give the videos you like the thumb as it will help define what goes on the featured page.

There is also a way to share the video to your Facebook and Twitter streams and we would greatly appreciate it if you would share our site with your friends neighbors and even your enemies. The more people we have visiting the site, the more motivation we have to find incredible videos to share with you!

Sending in videos

If you would like to send us a video simply use the contact page in the menu and we will evaluate your video for either our main blog if it's incredibly exciting, and if it's just really exciting will post it to the cinema site.

We welcome your videos at anytime starting now!
