Magic Carpet – A Thoughtfully Designed Slider at An Aggressive Price Point from Syrp

It really is amazing how just a touch of motion can add enormous production value to a shot.  It's why so many of us are always on the lookout for the best slider, jib…or MoVI (more about THAT bad boy in another article I'm working on).

Syrp is an interesting company from New Zealand I first became aware of via their Kickstarter project for a nifty motion control device called the Genie.  The  project was a roaring success, bringing in $636,766 — almost half a million MORE than their goal.

And now they're back with a new product called the Magic Carpet.  It's a small slider not dissimilar from my own Cinevate Duzi (nice piece of kit, BTW), but it has a couple of very interesting pieces of engineering that I'm coming to expect from Syrp at a pretty aggressive price point.  It is motion control ready via the Genie; sports a clever arrangement of the legs for transport; has a built-in level; and  include a built-in roller for a counterweight for vertical shots.

We just might have to get one in here at planet5D and ring out the full kit.  Check it out.

We understand that every filming situation is different so If you're looking for the flexibility of a portable slider as well as longer camera movement then the Magic Carpet combo kit will be right up your alley. The kit includes both a long track + short track slider + one carriage and end cap set that is designed to be interchangeable between the tracks. You'll not only get the flexibility of a short and long track but when bought as a kit you'll also save a buck or two!
