When you get into recording audio, you seem to quickly learn that not everything plugs into everything… and so you need to find ways to make things work. RØDE has just simplified connecting some of your devices to other devices with this set of adapters.
Suppose you bought several smartLav mics because you wanted to have lavs to connect to your iPhone, but now, you want to connect the smartlav to something like the Tascam DR-60D recorder, well, that requires a different plug as the smartlav is specifically designed for the iPhone and the plugs are different. Thus you now would love to have the RØDE SC3 (see more below).
This whole line makes so much sense!

The SC3 is a high-quality shielded adaptor, designed to allow the smartLav to connect to 3.5mm TRS devices such as cameras and audio recorders.
The gold-plated contacts are colour coded, with grey indicating the TRRS input.
The SC4 is a high-quality shielded adaptor, designed to allow microphones with a 3.5mm output to connect to TRRS smartphones and tablets.
The gold-plated contacts are colour coded, with grey indicating the TRRS output.
While the SC4 was designed to operate with Apple iOS devices such as the iPhone and iPad, it is compatible with the majority of Android devices on the market.
Note that the SC4 is compatible with stereo microphones, with both left and right channels combined to a mono signal to be compatible with TRRS.
The gold-plated contacts are colour coded, with grey indicating the TRRS output. The cable is colour matched to the red TRS to TRS cable that is supplied with the VideoMic GO, and is easily fitted by inserting the TRS (black) jack into the rear of the VideoMic GO and the TRRS end (grey) into the smartphone or tablet.
