Take Full Advantage of your Tripod using the 4DSLR Tripod Stud

by planetMitch8 Comments

A good friend of planet5D, 4DSLR, is running a kickstarter for a simple device that makes total sense… using something that is already open on the tripod you're probably using!

Here's a quote from Brandan at 4DSLR:

The problem is that most monitorsor audio recorders mount from on top of a hot shoe. This places the accessory on top of your camera and makes it bulky and sometimes awkward, particularly when you want to ditch the tripod and get some handheld shots.

That is why I created the 4DSLR Tripod Stud. When running a camera for a long time, it helps to be able to put the monitor or recorder right where you want it. Then it is easily accessible and visible. It also allows you to easily grab the camera and go, in order to get a different shot away from your tripod, leaving your bulky accessories behind.

On location using 4DSLR Tripod Stud

The 4DSLR Tripod Stud is designed to take advantage of the threading found on the side of a current manfrotto fluid head.

The 4DSLR Tripod Stud screws directly into your tripod and enables you to quickly mount accessories directly to it, for video or photography. Once you experience using this you will ask why tripod companies don't automatically make a tripod this way. You will not want to shoot with out it.

The 4DSLR Tripod Stud* will be available for order here after the campaign ends.

  1. I could totally use something like this myself. I’ve always had to find ways around all of this, and these studs as they’re called, could be pretty useful to me. Setup looks easy and it looks like it’s really sturdy, so that makes me want to get it even more.

    1. I agree for sure. I can use the likes of these studs because they seem to hold so much weight and stand like no other. There’s still fourteen days on the kickstarter campaign, so lets make it happen. They already have over $1000 covered and only need the $5000 to make it happen.

I sure hope it breaks it. I could use something like this.

  2. Is this fully funded yet? Cause If not, everyone is crazy for not doing so. Oh wait, I just saw the kickstarter and it’s not fully funded yet. It needs $5000 to get to their goal and they only have 14 days left. So lets make it happen. I am going to join in and help fund it. Looks like I could use it for a lot of useful things.

  3. With due time, this thing is going to come out and I can’t wait. I know they’re not fully funded just yet, but I am ready to get my own soon. I know a lot of people could use a product like this to make things that much easier when it comes to having so many things set up at once.

    1. It’s already at $2033 now. It has 13 days to go before it’s funded. I really hope they get the full $5000. I’d hate to see this not get funded. It’s just so useful looking and I know for one I could benefit from owning one of these. So everyone, please try to back this. It will be great!

  4. This is what I have always needed. I have so much stuff connected or hanging around when I use my camera, so a stud could come in handy big time for me. I haven’t had luck finding anything else useful or practical enough, so here’s hoping this gets the job done for me.

  5. This will get funded, don’t worry about it everyone. It’s got enough time to shoot for the $5000 asking. I will put down $20 or so sometime tomorrow. I am interested in playing around with this and seeing how much I can use it for.

  6. I have done this before on one of my smaller Manfrotto heads – you can just screw things straight into the rosette.

This product would be awesome because it allows you to do the same thing on larger tripod heads where the rosette screw is larger than your standard 1/4″ accessory screw.
