We here at planet5D have been really impressed with the Zeiss Otus 1.4/55 ZF.2 lens. In fact we’ve posted about it three times (here, here, and here).

Well, there’s a new kid on the block – the the new Sigma 50mm f/1.4 Art lens. For full details, see this article – Photo Rumors: “First Sigma 50mm f/1.4 DG HSM Art lens test”.

The price and release date have yet to be announced, but the the new Sigma 50mm f/1.4 Art will cost less and has autofocus – can’t wait to see how it stacks up on DxO Mark!

    The zoom on this is impressive. My friend would love to own this lens, the quality of the zoom is near perfection. I wish I could afford to get it myself. The lens also reminds me of the human eye too, looks great!

      Zoom? it’s a 50mm prime lens. On a full frame DSLR 50mm is pretty close to human eye perspective. But it doesn’t change, it’s just 50mm. No Zoom. I am very interested in this lens though. If it’s as good as the lab pics show, and it’s 1/3 the price of the Otus or less, I will own this lens.
