Watch the beauty of flowers in this Canon EOS 5D Mark II timelapse
Posted on 07. Jan, 2013
Nature is amazing – many photographers love to take photos of flowers but not many venture into timelapses – in this Staff Favorite (from vimeo’s staff, but my staff loves it too), Katka Pruskova (who prefer’s “Kate” according to her bio) has made her “first timelapse” of some amazingly beautiful flowers.

It is my first timelapse, hope you’ll enjoy it

Adding more details according to questions I’ve been recieving:
It was shot in my homemade “studio” that I made in a cabinet, back of the cabinet was coverd with black cloth, the flower was placed in the middle, and the whole cabinet was then covered with another cloth to insulate from the daylight (to keep the light constant, which is the most important). Two lights were used to illuminate the flowers.
Some flowers bloomed in hours, some in few days.. therefore the interval between photos varies from few seconds to several minutes depending on the type of flower (after several missed tries you’ll learn![]()
In order to keep ISO as low as possible (couldn’t go lower than 640 because of low light), the shutter speed was usually 1/5 s at f16.
All flowers are mine or from my mother’s garden![]()

Kate’s Biography
From her site
Photography gives us the unique chance to catch the most beautiful moments and share them with others. I am glad that I can show you our amazing colorful world through my lens. I hope you’ll like my photographs and that they’ll bring you some pleasant thoughts and impressions to these hectic fast-moving times.
A little about me.. my name is Katka Pruskova (Katherine, or I prefer Kate
and I was born in September 1980 in Opava, a small town in Czech Republic, where I grew up. I studied Computer science and English language at Silesian University and then spent several months in USA and Australia for little bit more studying and experience.
After coming back home, I worked as a lecturer of computer courses and then in advertisement, mainly as a graphic designer. I’ve been doing photography professionally for several years now, however.. it all started with just a small camera and a desire to discover
These days I am carrying a heavy professional equipment that I can’t imagine traveling without. Photography has become a part of my life and changed my world view, no matter whether I am shooting an event, wedding or sunset over the ocean..
I wish you all a beautiful day! …and thank you all who took these photos of me
