How do Nikon HDSLRs and a Hasselblad stand up to the iPhone 5?

Posted on 12. Oct, 2012

Crazy Kevin Good sent us his latest wacky HDSLR versus another camera comparison, this time it is the iPhone 5 versus Nikon with a touch of Hasselblad medium format thrown in for good measure. You might remember Kevin’s last video: “Revenge of the Canon EOS 5D Mark III vs Nikon D800

In this one I’m doing less of a specific comparison and trying to answer a broader question. Humanity is taking more pictures with phone-cameras than anything else; so how does a flagship phone-camera stack up against the flagship benchmarks of image quality? Has the phone “arrived” so-to-speak? So we compare the iPhone to DSLRs and a friggin’ Hasselblad medium format, then make big prints and see if anyone can tell the difference.

iPhone 5 Review, Camera Comparison: Nikon DSLR and Hasselblad

Description

The iPhone 5 has arrived and we have the iPhone 5 camera app review you’ve been waiting for. In this episode, Kevin and John compare the strengths and weaknesses of the iPhone 5 camera to other prosumer cameras (Nikon DSLR, Hasselblad H4D) including how to get the best resolution, how to get the best focus features, and how to get the best overall image quality for your respective camera. Kevin tries to answer the question: should you get the expensive camera or just use an iPhone and keep the extra thousands of dollars?

Come on guys – the swear words and constant ‘bleeeping’ were totally unnecessary and demeaned your presentation.

Nicely done. I always preach, know your audience and you guys hit a home run with that message. Love the “Douchy Photographer” reference.
