USAToday covered a story today about Carson Daly's show Last Call and the fact that they're shooting on Canon HDSLRs (and the USAtoday report itself is shot on HDSLRs)!
Talking Your Tech – USATODAY.com
Unlike most TV shows, which use huge, professional cameras that cost $30,000 and up, Last Call shoots on small, multiple Canon 5D Mark II, 60D and 7D cameras, which cost $1,000 to $2,000. The digital SLRs are targeted to advanced amateurs and pros but have been adopted by the entertainment industry for their great results in a compact body. "For an independent-spirited network show, thank God for the technology." The cameras let the show shoot remotely, more affordably, instead of in the studio. "We're in bars and restaurants all over the country."
