auroras come alive (if you hate timelapse, look away)

Tor Even Mathisen just sent us his latest aurora timelapse made for a music video and I just had to share it with you because I'm jealous of him… I've never been far enough north to see the northern lights and this is a beautiful way to pretend to be there… shot with a Canon EOS 5D Mark II

  1. Mind blowing, how did he split the frames so that sky is time lapse and the foreground is real time to give each of the clips a real time feel with the camera pans? Very cool

    1. the frames are not split, the timelapse was taken on a ultra slow speed remote dolly slider, basically it moves from a-b (a-b around 1 metre) anywhere from around 20 minutes to a few hours or more. collate the images and you have a real time camera move with fast moving environment (usually clouds or people) some of the major brands advertised on this site sell them.

  2. Very nice, some great shots in there.

I was actually going to comment on how I didn’t like the music selection. Then I realised it’s a music video! :S
