Finally! Canon EOS Utility updated to work on OSX Lion

Peter (@IamPter on twitter) sent us this good news this evening – Canon has updated the EOS Utility to work on OSX Lion and he also sent us the download link.

I was able to download it and install it on my OSX Lion setup on my iMac and it worked like a charm. This is indeed good news as we're now able to use all the latest enhancements.

We've been following the story on another post on the blog since last fall when Lion came out.

UPDATE! If you don't have the original CD – you can use this solution from Northlight-images – found by Eduardo Picado

  3. The new EOS Utility update works great on my MAC with Lion 10.7.2 for my 50D, but will not work for my 5D. Yes, I realize that my original 5D is old (in terms of technology), but I have taken great care of it and it still produces stunning images. Am I left out in the cold, or is there a version of EOS Utility which will work with my original 5D and Lion?

  4. Outrageous that the update does not support the Canon 5D MK1 !!!!!!

This is absolutely, ridiculously, hideously and very very sadly not fair. The camera is still very capable. It produces stunning results. I find it completely unacceptable that it has been left out and its days are therefore numbered.

    Are cameras really that disposable?

It’s outrageous and I demand Canon to fix it immediately. I never would buy a camera that is going to be totally unusable in a little over 5 years! I’m sorry not good enough, it’s disgusting – fix it now!!!!!!

  5. I am an owner of a first generation EOS 5D, and quite satisfied with it. So please, upgrade to 2.10.five immediately in order to give us the ability of connecting our splendid and still working 5D one! Hurry!!!!!!!!!

  6. this is still not working 🙁 help! I can’t get my Canon 5D Mark III to work with the EOS utility it came with after getting the latest OS LION update a few days ago (Sept 26 2012). EOS utility constantly crashing and closing. Camera not recognized error.
