Oscar nomination for a Canon EOS 5D Mark II movie! Danfung Dennis’ “Hell and Back Again”

This morning we’ve seen several tweets and the official announcement from Danfung himself that his Canon EOS 5D Mark II movie “Hell and Back Again” has been nominated for an Academy Award (or Oscar)! That’s the first I’m aware of for an HDSLR movie to be up for an Academy Award!

I was blessed to be able to see the movie when I was out in LA last fall and even got to meet Danfung in person – and we’ll have him on a podcast this year (if I get off my fanny and get those started again ha!).

I cant believe this was shot on the 5D MK 2. I own this camera and words can’t describe how good this camera is.

“Pina” by Wim Wenders is also nominated and was partially shot with the 5D mk2, and it’s 3D.
I visited a retrospective of him, and he was telling about the problems of the 3D rigs for the 5dmk2 as they had to be handmade by some french 3D specialist
