Can you use headphones with your HDSLR? You can with a Røde VideoMic

by planetMitch4 Comments

Is it possible to have a headphone monitoring the Canon EOS 5D Mark II (reviews) or other HDSLR that doesn't have magic lantern installed? Well, this solution seems to give you that option. I haven't tried it.

I have found a solution that works for me… and cost only about 37$.

My need was:
– Cheap
– Simple to setup
– Lightweight

  1. ..or you could just buy an adapter, plug you headphones into your camera.

    done.
    20$
even less than this would cost.

Thanks Christian – note that particular adapter only works when you’re using Magic Lantern so for many, that’s not a great option… but we do appreciate the tip!

  2. This actually inst that good of an option. You are only going to be able to hear what the microphone is hearing, not what is actually getting recorded to the DSLR.
