A quick basic introduction to HDSLR cameras and filmmaking

Posted on 04. Mar, 2011

Here at planet5D, we tend to cover things that are for the advanced filmmaker, but we also realize there are people just starting out and all of you need help too – so when Travis pointed me to this basic introduction over on vimeo yesterday, I thought it was a great topic for a post. It was created for the Canon Rebel T2i/550D (reviews), but it applies to all HDSLR cameras for the most part. Our thanks to –jL on vimeo for letting us post these!

Part 1 of a short series of training videos covering the basics of DSLR videography.

Although centred around the Canon T2i, most of these tutorials cover basic priniciples that apply to DSLR videography in general.

These lessons were made for students in the DAC program at the University of Waterloo.

Produced July 2010

This realllllly was helpful. Ive been getting into shooting video with my Canon recently, yet without much educational info, its been mostly a self taught process. This sure was an interesting and thought-provoking series of videos. If any has any more info/guides/videos on the more basic aspects of shooting film like this, hit me up with a email. tennisfan92@yahoo.com thanks again
