Taking the Canon EOS 5D Mark II to new depths

by planetmitch4 Comments

We've seen the Canon EOS 5D Mark II (reviews) underwater, but I don't think we've seen it quite like this. This was posted on our forums by the diver Guillaume Nery but thought it should get wider exposure. He also said: “here is a video shot with a 5D mark II. This video was shot on breath hold only by my girlfriend. We directed the clip together.”

FREE FALL: World champion freediver Guillaume Nery special dive at Dean's Blue Hole, the deepest blue hole in the world filmed entirely on breath hold by the french champion Julie Gautier. Produced and edited by BLUENERY (c).

From Guillaume Nery (a comment on the video on youtube):

To clarify: this movie is A FICTION AND AN ARTISTIC PROJECT. I don't claim to have reached the bottom of the hole (202m) without rope and fins, as the world record in no-fins discipline is 95m..

We made this movie to show another approach in freediving videos.

We wanted to express the strength of the elements water-earth-air and the sensations of freedom, harmony, exploration

  1. A great work that shows diving and photography isn’t necessarily meant for little tiny multi coloured fish.

Why was I holding my breath while watching the video?
I felt like I’m diving with them lol.
