HDSLR output-what does a colorist do?

by planetmitch2 Comments

This morning, while out surfing for news, I bumped into this very interesting video from a digital colorist that highlights before and after video from a Canon EOS 5D Mark II (and another camera but what do we care about that? Ha!). I found it most interesting to see how the different layers impact the video. Tho I wish there were more info about how the changes were done, it is interesting none the less. Kinda like watching a good photoshop before and after tutorial.

Daniel Principe – Digital Colour Reel – Summer 2010 from Daniel Principe on Vimeo.

This reel showcases a range of my HD work as a digital colourist from the past few months. It demonstrates what the image looked like out of the camera followed by the grade that I applied. The looks were created in After Effects predominately using Synthetic Aperture's Color Finesse 2. The footage contained here originated on the Sony PMW EX1 and the Canon 5D Mark II.

Pretty interesting stuff – makes you want to learn more doesn't it? Maybe we'll find some training for you on digital coloring 🙂

  1. Well that’s actually my reel so if anyone has any questions then I am happy to answer them (assuming I actually know the answer of course).

Nice to see it embedded here by the way.
