There have been surfing documentaries, but you've not seen one like this before, surfing in the cold cold arctic waters and of course, it is shot on the Canon EOS 5D Mark II. This video is really well done and these guys are in a different world. I admire people who go off and do really different things, but for this one, I prefer to stay in my warm cozy home. I keep thinking that this is just one more reason to believe the Canon EOS 5D Mark II has really changed things.
That's pretty amazing – spent so much time watching the crazy guys surfing I forgot it was a Canon EOS 5D Mark II LOL!
UPDATE: Alain points out that he also has an in depth interview with the videographer – check this out too!
As it turns out, I found this post where the guy who made this cool movie was interviewed by his friend. Reading the whole blog is mandatory because there's lots of cool info like this:
“The audio was pulled from video interviews and audio recordings I got from some of the expedition members. I loaned an H2 digital audio recorder to the surfers on the expedition and asked them to record their thoughts when they were alone or by themselves in order to get authentic impressions from their experience in the Arctic- which wasn’t without challenges.
A lot of the sound effects were pulled from video clips. The 5DMKII has an audio input jack which allows for hi quality mics to be used.”
It really is an interesting story that you should read!
