The Canon EOS 5D Mark II seems to be quite popular for timelapse videos. Peter Belanger sent us this cool video he made while they were working on creating the cover of a recent Macworld magazine cover.
“I just posted a time lapse video on my blog and wanted to share it with you. It shows the process of shooting the cover shot for Macworld magazine. I used the 5D Mark II and thought to drop you an email to check it out. I used the 5DMII because of is strength in quality in low light situations using high ISOs. Also, the sRAW1 gave me smaller files with RAW capabilities that would be perfect for the thousands of images used in the final time lapse video. ”
From his blog:
“After working on the latest cover for MacWorld Magazine I wanted to show what is involved in making a cover. I focused on the three main areas: the photography, photoshop and design. I chose a time lapse format to convey lots of information in a small amount of time. The only drawback of time lapse is that since half a day goes by in 30 seconds, the whole process seam so easy! Lots of details were left out of the design process (like the cover meetings and rounds of layout options). I began to photograph the design process after the layouts had already been narrowed down to just three cover designs.”
