• 1001NoisyCameras beat me to the luminous landscape report of 5D mk ii failures on their Antarctic trip. We had reported the impending report due to a post found on twitter and had been watching for it off and on, but this time, 1001 beat us out – well done! – Here’s some discussion on the POTN forums – also discussion on luminous-landscape’s forum including direct reports from a couple of the users with errors. Debate ensues about camera operating recommendations for temperature/humidity etc.

• Some awesome Aurora Borealis images from Dave Brosha (his blog with more amazing stills) who describes these images: “I specialize in Aurora photography so I was quite excited to get the 5DMII (previously shot with a 5D) to see how it handled my "normal" shooting conditions: 25-30 second exposures, higher ISOs (generally between 800-1600), cold temperatures (from -20C to -45C).
Prognosis: amazing. Last night was the first display of Aurora Borealis that we’ve gotten since my new camera arrived, and it responded amazingly – noise was low, and the colours vibrant.”
